Susan Point Launch Gallery
On Saturday, June 28th, the Spirit Wrestler Gallery hosted an exhibition and book release for Susan Point: Works on Paper. Susan Point made an appearance and graciously signed copies of her book published by Figure 1. Co-authors, Dale Croes and Gary Wyatt, were also in attendance.
The exhibition is one of the most comprehensive displays of the serigraphs, etchings, and chine-collé prints that Point has produced over her 34-year career.
Point’s distinctive style has evolved from her close study of traditional Coast Salish art, architecture, and artifacts. Her prints address historical, social, and environmental issues, often speaking through the creatures that have always been important to her people: salmon, orcas, eagles, ravens, black bears, even the endangered frogs that sing the changing of the seasons.
The book Susan Point: Works on Paper is available in paperback on July 8, 2014, wherever books are sold. The paperback edition and a limited edition hard cover, sold exclusively through the Spirit Wrestler Gallery, are available now.
Susan Point: Works on Paper runs to July 19 at Spirit Wrestler Gallery.
