As both a hunter and an artist, Tim Pitsiulak (1967–2016) practiced tautuppaa, which in Inuktitut means to see or to look for a long time. For Pitsiulak, art and hunting represented parallel ways of experiencing the world around him. His artwork was deeply rooted in his intimate knowledge of his homeland, expressed through traditional practices and stories and the natural world, as well as elements of contemporary life in
the Arctic.

With texts by Art Gallery of Guelph director Shauna McCabe, Inuit art historian Patricia Feheley, and Inuit curator, Taqralik Partridge, Tautuppaa | Long Looking will speak to deep-rooted connections between individuals and their surroundings in an environment defined by its climatic conditions, and the ever-evolving impacts of colonization in the North.

Co-published with the Art Gallery of Guelph, the book will be available Spring 2027.
