Deal Announcement: Rajesh Vora: Everyday Monuments—The Rooftop Sculptures of Punjab

On a trip to Punjab, Mumbai-based architectural photographer Rajesh Vora became fascinated by a local art form he’d never encountered before: domestic rooftop sculptures, often serving as water tanks, formed in the shape of various symbols of culture and identity including airliners, falcons, weightlifters, and Sikh gurus. Rajesh Vora: Everyday Monuments—The Rooftop Sculptures of Punjab collects over 120 photos of these intriguing works, alongside texts by Satwinder Kaur Bains, Rahul Mehrotra, and Sajdeep Soomal that offer cultural, social, and political context for these distinct expressions of Punjabi diasporic culture and belonging. The book will extend the works included in Rajesh Vora: Everyday Monuments, an exhibition guest-curated by Keith Wallace and presented at Surrey Art Gallery in the spring of 2022. Rajesh Vora was signed by Editorial Director Michael Leyne and will release in Fall 2023.
