Favourite Books: Jessica Sullivan
Get into the mind of one of Canada’s most esteemed book designers as we continue our Favourite Books section. This month we are featuring selections by our Creative Director, Jessica Sullivan. She is winner of 36 Alcuin Awards for Excellence in Book Design and a CBA Libris Award for Book Design of the Year.
Jess leads Figure 1’s creative strategy, overseeing the company’s brand identity, book design and visual marketing program.
Visual Contrast by Tim Rundle. “My idea of eye candy. Paired with great book design – one of my favorite books-as-objects”
Around the World with Ant and Bee by Angela Banner. “My grandpa read this to my sister and I all the time when we were kids. We always asked our grandma what was in the candy jar, and grandpa (aka Great Guy) to read Ant and Bee. The cover is now framed in my entryway. The book is on my office shelf.”
A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon. “”I love things that are both sad and funny.”
Handjob: A Catalog of Type by Michael Perry “Another favourite on my office shelf. Inspiration for working off-computer and getting back to pencil and paper. Plus, you gotta love a great title!”
