Teresa Bubela Joins Figure 1’s Acclaimed Design Team
Figure 1 Publishing is delighted to announce the hiring of Teresa Bubela as its new senior designer. Based in Victoria, Teresa will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing eight to twelve books per year.
“Teresa has all the qualities of an excellent book designer,” says Naomi McDougall, creative director at Figure 1 Publishing. “She is talented, always learning, author-centric, and collaborative. I know she’ll make an excellent addition to our team.”
Teresa is a twenty-five year publishing veteran who has held design positions at Raincoast Books and was the art director at Orca Book Publishers. More recently she has been freelancing as an art director, designer, and a project manager for a variety of book publishing clients.
“I couldn’t be happier that my publishing path has led me here,” says Teresa, who confesses to owning a substantial cookbook collection, and has expressed a strong interest in collaborating with Indigenous creators and storytellers. “Figure 1’s stellar list offers the rare opportunity to combine personal interests with my passion for design, and I’m excited to bring my enthusiasm and diverse experience to every project.”
