Catharine Mastin
Catharine Mastin, PhD, is an independent scholar, writer and curator, with specializations in modern art and feminism, and is an Adjunct Member of the Faculty of Graduate Studies in Art History at York University in Toronto, Canada. In this volume, she continues her exploration of women in artist-couple relationships from both her doctoral work and her recent publications, which include contributions on Frances Loring and Florence Wyle in Uninvited: Canadian Women Artists in the Modern Moment (2021), Territories: Brenda Francis Pelkey (2017), Mary Pratt (2013, 2nd edition 2016), and her upcoming book, Marion Nicoll: Life & Art for the Art Canada Institute. Mastin is also an experienced arts administrator, having served as the Executive Director of the Art Gallery of Windsor (2010–2020) and Senior Art Curator of the Glenbow Museum in Calgary (1995–2006).
Catharine Mastin, Ph. D. est chercheure indépendante, autrice et conservatrice spécialisée en art moderne et féminisme. Elle est professeure auxiliaire à la Faculté des études supérieures en Histoire de l’art de l’Université York, à Toronto, Canada. Dans le présent ouvrage, elle pousse son exploration de la situation des femmes membres de couple d’artistes, travail entamé dans le cadre de ses études doctorales et de récentes publications, dont ses contributions sur Frances Loring et Florence Wyle dans Uninvited: Canadian Women Artists in the Modern Moment (2021), Territories: Brenda Francis Pelkey (2017), Mary Pratt (2013, 2e édition 2016), et dans Marion Nicoll: Life & Art, publié prochainement par l’Institut de l’art du Canada. Administratrice d’art expérimentée, Catharine Mastin a en outre été directrice générale de l’Art Gallery of Windsor (2010-2020) et commissaire principale (art) au Glenbow Museum, à Calgary (1995-2006).
