Figure 1 Publishing Hires Former Phaidon Editor
Figure 1 Publishing is proud to welcome Michelle Meade as Senior Editor. Originally from Vancouver, Meade has spent the last fifteen years working for publishing houses in New York and London. Most recently she was Senior Editor at Phaidon Press, the internationally acclaimed art book publisher based in London. She will work on a variety of high-end illustrated titles at Figure 1, with a particular focus on food, art and design.
“We are so excited that Michelle is joining our team,” says Chris Labonté, Publisher and President of Figure 1. “She is a savvy and talented editor, and will bring valuable international experience to Figure 1. She is passionate about beautiful books, cookbooks in particular, and is a wonderful publishing professional.”
At Phaidon, Meade developed and edited a variety of critically acclaimed titles, including the Italian classic The Silver Spoon, the New York Times bestselling Mexico: The Cookbook by Margarita Carrillo Arronte, The Cookbook Book by Florian Bohm and Annahita Kamali, and The Larousse Book of Bread by Éric Kayser. She has already started work on a new cookbook for Figure 1, a stunning collection of delicious fish recipes by acclaimed Vancouver chef Ned Bell, which will publish in partnership with Chefs for Oceans in September 2017
“Figure 1 has worked with some of Canada’s most moving artists, influential architects, notable writers and talented chefs—producing beautifully illustrated books that are driven by the highest standards of excellence,” says Meade. “I’ve been a long-time admirer of Figure 1, and it is my privilege to join this exceptional team of industry leaders.”
